How to Manage Apple Volume Purchase Program

In System Administration, you can link your Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP) accounts to CapaInstaller. You can then view and manage the licenses and users in those programs. For background, see Apple Volume Purchase Program.

  1. In System Administration, expand Software Accounts.
  2. Right-click Apple Volume Purchase Programs and select Add.
  3. Enter a Name for the account.
  4. Paste the content of the token file in Token.
  5. Click Retrieve VPP Account. The Organisation Name and Expire Date of the token are filled in.
  6. Optionally, select Auto create new apps from the VPP to create applications in CapaInstaller for the apps you buy. Then enter a name prefix and a folder for the apps, and choose the Management Point and Business Unit to create them in.
  7. Click Ok.

The account appears under Apple Volume Purchase Programs, with the folders Licenses and Users.

Right-click the account, and select Synchronize with Apple to fetch licenses and users now. Re-Synchronize with Apple fetches all data again and can take hours.

To synchronize automatically, schedule the global Replicator tasks Synchronize Apple Volume Purchase Program and Assign Apple Volume Purchase Program Licenses. Both are disabled by default. See Manage Global Replicator tasks schedule.

Right-click a license or a user to manage it:

Object Actions
License Create Device Application, Assign to device…, Revoke license, Synchronize with Apple
User Send invite to device, Retire, Synchronize with Apple, Properties

For the details, see Assign and Revoke VPP Licenses and Create a Licensed Device Application.

To copy licenses or users between views, use Add to buffer and Paste from buffer. The VPP License buffer and VPP User buffer buttons in the toolbar show the buffers.

When you renew the token in Apple Business Manager, right-click the account, select Edit, and click Replace Token to paste the new token.
