Assign packages to Business Units

When you assign a package to a business unit, the package becomes available under Assigned Applications and Packages in that business unit.

Important

When a package is assigned to a business unit, it will automatically be linked to any management servers, which are linked to the business unit.

Drag and drop

1. Locate the package under Applications and Packages.
2. Drag it to Computer Packages or User Packages, or to a package folder, inside the business unit.
3. Optional: enter a comment, and confirm the operation.

Use the package buffer

This method is often easier when you handle several packages.

1. Right-click each package and select Add to buffer.
2. Right-click the business unit and select Assign Packages. The menu item is only shown when the package buffer contains packages.
3. Optional: enter a comment, and confirm the operation.

Tip

If you want to assign packages to more than one business unit, you can keep the packages in the buffer after you paste them. Go to Options → Configuration Management → Miscellaneous and clear Remove from buffer after Paste.

Assign to several business units at once

1. Right-click a package, or select several packages and right-click them, and select Assign to Business Units….
2. In the Business Unit Assignment dialog, select the business units.
3. Click Assign, and confirm.
4. Click Close.
