Application groups
Introduction
Section titled “Introduction”An application group collects software based on a query or by linking Software. You find the application groups in the Software view under Discovered applications → Application groups.
Right-clicking on the Application groups folder will bring the following possibilities:
| Element | Description |
| New application group… | Create an application group. |
| Process | Process Software Group data for all application groups. Only available when the folder contains application groups. |
Right-clicking on an application group will bring the following possibilities:
| Element | Description |
| Licenses | Work with application group license: register the license type and number of licenses with supplier, business unit, or department. |
| Metering Executable | Define the executables to meter for the group. See Metering executable. |
| Enable Metering History | Start collecting metering history for the group. Only shown when the group has at least one metering executable. See Setup metering history. |
| Disable Metering History | Stop collecting metering history for the group. Only shown when metering history is enabled. |
| Update Metering history | Update the metering history of the selected group now. Only shown when metering history is enabled. |
| Group query… | Create a query to collect the software into the group. |
| Process | Process Software Group data for the selected group. |
| Delete | This will delete the group. |
| Rename… | Rename an application group. |
| Properties | Here the properties for the specific group can be viewed. See Metering properties. |
