Prerequisites for Patch Management

The following prerequisites are needed to use Patch Management according to our best practice. Infrastructure, processes, and environments must be in place and structured.

Element	Description
Processes	Create a process that defines the use of Patch Management. This ensures that everybody knows what to expect, when to expect it, and from whom.
WSUS server	Set up a WSUS server according to Microsoft standards. See Deploy Windows Server Update Services on Microsoft Learn. In the WSUS console, select the products and classifications you want to synchronize, because Patch Management only shows the ones selected there.
Patch Management Service	The CapaInstaller Patch Management Service must be deployed on the WSUS server from System Administration. See Deploy Patch Management Service.
Computers	Patch Management handles Windows computers managed by CapaInstaller.
