Assign packages to units or groups

Introduction

The following is a description of how to assign packages to units or groups. There are two methods of assigning packages to units or groups.

  • You can locate the package and drag and drop it to the unit or group.
  • You can also add the package to the package buffer, and then paste it on the unit or group.

Simple Drag and drop assignment

1Locate the package.
2Drag it to the unit or group.
3aEnter an optional comment and confirm the operation.
3bIf one or more of the packages, being added to a unit, are advertised to members only, another dialog will be shown, where you can decide whether these should be advertised or directly installed. If you choose Install, the package will be installed, but remain in the catalog it is advertised to.  

The Buffer

1Locate the package, right-click it and select _Add to buffer._
2Locate the unit or group, right-click it, and select Paste packages.  
3aEnter an optional comment and confirm the operation.
3bIf one or more of the packages, being added to a unit, are advertised to members only, another dialog will be shown, where you can decide whether these should be advertised or directly installed. If you choose Install, the package will be installed, but remain in the catalog it is advertised to.
