WiFi Payload

Description

This payload can be used to configure a mobile device so it can connect to one or more wireless access points.

If your organization uses more than one wireless access point, it can be beneficial to include more than one access point payload in a profile, e.g. a profile called “Global access points” which includes both public and enterprise access point payloads.

Add a Wi-Fi payload, and then use the configuration section that matches the security of your access point:

For enterprise networks with certificate or EAP authentication, use the WiFi Advanced Payload.

How to configure an open access point

MANDATORY	CONFIGURATION	DESCRIPTION	EXAMPLE
Yes	Network Name (SSID)	The Service Set IDentification (SSID) of the network access point. This is normally some logical name.	CompanyWifi
	Hidden Network	The access point can be configured so it doesn’t broadcast the SSID, if your access point doesn’t broadcast the SSID this setting must be checked.	[Not Checked]
	Autojoin	If you want to allow the mobile devices to automatically join the wifi access point when it is in the range you can check this field.	[Checked]
Yes	Security Type	As there are no security restrictions to this access point you leave this setting at “None”	None
	Proxy Type	If there is a need for going through a proxy server for this access point it can be chosen here	None

How to configure WEP

How to configure WPA/WPA2 (Personal)

How to configure the usage of a proxy server

CONFIGURATION	DESCRIPTION	EXAMPLE
Proxy Type	Select None (default) if the access point doesn’t need a proxy server. Otherwise select Manual or Automatic.	None
	PROXY TYPE: MANUAL
Proxy Server	The network address of the proxy server.	`proxy.example.com`

Authentication	The user name used to authenticate to the proxy server.
Password	The password used to authenticate to the proxy server.

Proxy Server Configuration URL	The URL of the PAC file that defines the proxy configuration.	`http://proxy.example.com/proxy.pac`

iOS 14 and later

CONFIGURATION	DESCRIPTION	EXAMPLE
Disable Association MAC Randomization	If checked, disables MAC address randomization for the Wi-Fi network while the device is associated with it. The device shows a privacy warning in Settings for the network. The value is only locked when the profile is installed by MDM.	[Not Checked]
