Create an AD group

An AD group gets its members from an object in Active Directory, such as an AD group. You create it with the Create Group wizard, which is also used for static, department and dynamic groups.

Create the group

  1. In Configuration Management, expand your Configuration Management Point.

  2. Right-click Groups (or a folder under Groups) and select Create group….

  3. On the Create Group page, click AD group.

  4. On the Select Target Units page, select Computer and Devices group or User group.

  5. On the Active Directory Group page, click the browse button next to ADSI object and select the object in Active Directory. The LDAP path of the object is shown below the field.

  6. Optional: select Perform recursive ADSI query to include members of nested objects.

  7. Click Next.

  8. On the Group Name page, enter a Name and, optionally, a Description.

  9. Optional: enter a Change description. If your system requires a change description, you must enter one.

  10. Click Finish, and then choose I am done, Create another group at the same location, or (for computer groups) Create a Wake On LAN schedule for the new group.

The group appears under Groups.
