Edit a group

How you change a group’s membership after it has been created depends on the group type.

Membership of a static group is maintained manually.

Remove a unit from the group

Step Action
1 Select the group in the navigation pane.
2 In the content view on the right, right-click a unit (or select several) and choose Unlink.

Add a unit to the group — use one of these methods:

  • Add the unit(s) to the buffer, then right-click the group and choose Paste computers, or
  • Run a CMS function (for example CMS_AddComputerToStaticGroup) from an OS Deployment script or a package.

A dynamic group’s membership is defined by a report in Reporting and Queries and is maintained automatically by the Replicator. To change which units are members, edit the underlying report.

Step Action
1 Open the report the dynamic group is based on in Reporting and Queries.
2 Adjust the query criteria and save the report.

The Replicator updates the group membership on its next run.
