General settings
The General section defines initial values and options for the package. Each of the possible settings is described below. The settings displayed will depend on the template and the generator.

| Name | Specify the Package name. The Package name will typically be used as the package name depending on the integration. Validation will fail if ‘uninstall’ is part of the package name, or if the name contains characters that aren’t allowed in folder names. The name can’t contain : \ / | * ? " < > ' =. With the Microsoft Application Virtualization template, the name can’t contain spaces. |
| Version | Specify a version number for the package. Version number could either be used as the package release or the actual application version. The version can’t contain ‘uninstall’ or the characters that aren’t allowed in Name. When you generate the package, the version prefix from Tools → Options → Package is added, for example v1.0. |
| Description | Enter a short description of the product and/or package. The description will be shown to the end-user if the Installation mode is set to attended/Logoff. |
| Installation Time | When the package installation starts the end-user will be informed about installation time. The value specified in minutes and is based on an estimate. The default is 5 |
| Installation Mode | The installation mode controls how the script/program will run in terms of user interaction. Select one of the following modes: Attended: The package will inform the end user that installation is about to be made. This is the default. Log off: The script/package will ask the end user to log off prior to installation. This option is typically used if the installation requires that the OS is untouched by the end user during installation. The legal notice is changed to ensure that users doesn’t log on mistakenly. Silent: The package will run in the background without informing the user |
| Messagebox Language | Select the language in which messages from the script/program should be displayed to the end user. Choose a specific language or choose OS to show messages in the language chosen in regional and language options (Control panel). The default is OS. This item is only shown in the advanced view. |
| Uninstall procedure | This setting controls whether or not the Package Creator should generate an uninstall script/program. Select one of the following options: Yes: To create the uninstall script/program. This is the default for the Microsoft Windows Installer, InstallShield, SWV, and Thinstall templates. No: To not create the uninstall script/program. This is the default for the Basic, Generic Installer, and Microsoft Application Virtualization templates. |
