Create Shortcut
Creates a shortcut on the desktop for a specified target file or application, with options for customizing the shortcut’s name, icon, and arguments.
Parameters
Section titled “Parameters”Literal Path
Section titled “Literal Path”Required
Specifies the full path of the shortcut to create, including file name and extension (.lnk or .url). Example: C:\Users\Public\Desktop\MyApp.lnk
Target Path
Section titled “Target Path”Required
Specifies the file system path or URL the shortcut will point to.
Arguments
Section titled “Arguments”Optional
Optional command-line arguments passed to the target when the shortcut is launched. [Not applicable for URL shortcuts.]
Icon Location
Section titled “Icon Location”Optional
Specifies the path to the file containing the icon (e.g., .ico, .exe, or .dll).
Icon Index
Section titled “Icon Index”Optional — Default: 0
Specifies the icon index within the file. Use 0 for the first icon. Applies to executables, DLLs, or ICOs with multiple icons.
Description
Section titled “Description”Optional
Optional text description displayed in the shortcut’s properties. [Not applicable for URL shortcuts.]
Working Directory
Section titled “Working Directory”Optional
Specifies the working directory used when launching the shortcut. [Not applicable for URL shortcuts.]
Window Style
Section titled “Window Style”Optional — Default: Normal
Specifies the initial window state when the target application starts (Normal, Maximized, Minimized). [Not applicable for URL shortcuts.] Allowed values: Normal, Maximized, Minimized.
Run As Administrator
Section titled “Run As Administrator”Optional — Default: False
Indicates whether the shortcut should be configured to run with administrative privileges. [Not applicable for URL shortcuts.]
Hot Key
Section titled “Hot Key”Optional
Specifies a keyboard shortcut to launch the shortcut (e.g., CTRL+SHIFT+F). [Not applicable for URL shortcuts.]
