Provision Manager

Important

For a device to boot using PXE, it must be on the same subnet as the PXE server. If it’s on a different subnet, your network must be configured to allow PXE traffic to be routed correctly.

Setup Provisioning Template

Note

A Provisioning Template controls the OS installation behavior for devices installed with Provision Manager.

Each template defines the base installation settings and must be linked to an Enrollment Configuration.

To simplify your initial setup, you can start with the default template.

Setup Enrollment Configuration

Note

An Enrollment Configuration dictates how the device is set up in CapaOne after the operating system is installed.

Start PXE Server

Note

The PXE server role can be started on an existing online device.

1. Navigate to the Endpoints list
2. Select the online device you want to act as the PXE server
3. From the action buttons, select Request and Start PXE Server

Provision Device

Note

When the PXE server is started, you are ready to provision a device 🚀

1. Power on the device you want to provision and press F12 to initiate a PXE boot
2. When WinPE is loaded, scan the on-screen QR code with a mobile device
3. Login to CapaOne on the mobile device
4. Select an Organization
5. Select a Provisioning Template

Provisioning automatically continues on the PXE booted device.

View Provisioning Status

Active PXE servers

To view active PXE servers.

1. Navigate to Provisioning
2. Select the Deployment Points tab

Ongoing Installations

To view devices currently being provisioned.

1. Navigate to Provisioning
2. Select the In Progress tab

💡 A device will only appear after it has been assigned an organization and a template.

Completed Installations

To view a list of all provisioned devices.

1. Navigate to Provisioning
2. Select the History tab

💡 You can access detailed log files for each provisioned device.

💡 History logs are automatically deleted after a few months.
